I think technique wise he is better than Leben. But Leben is known for his comebacks and scored another against Akiyama. I think Akiyama had him on standing technique, and grappling. While Akiyama has a good ground game, I think he underestimated Leben's and didn't respect it, even after the multiple arm bar attempts. In addition to the fact his cardio isn't really there, I think he is also a bit small for a MW in the UFC. He should drop to WW and train in the US.

They are simply in no way on the same level as their American counterparts. .... I agree that most Japanese fighters cannot compete in the game today. but I think ... fighting western fighters (North America, South America)and then see how they .... Can he still contend against the top lightweights? ..
