| I have been spending some time lately (more than I should), trying to work out a gi supplier for the club I am trining at. Currently we are buying retail and not making any money on them, I hope to change this...
Just wondering if you guys had any experience? What are your favorite gi's?
Personally I like the Isami gi I have, but its very expensive to get in Norway.
Anyone have experiences on these brands: -Padilla -Vulkan -Sirius
Of course, I would need to get a deal for the club in order to make money and still offer at a good price to our members, so appreaciate any advice. |

THanks, I like them too. I havent actually seen the other 2. |
I've played in Vulkan, Krugan, HCK, Isami, and a few other Gi; but not the other two you mentioned. The Vulkan is honestly easily my favorite. It's the lightest, weighing in at maybe 2-3 lbs which definitely helps in competition, and the gi itself is rather supple but strong. The collar is a bit soft usually, though, so if you're all about ridiculously stiff gi to make it harder to get choked/gripped, I'd go with like a Mizuno. Judo Gi are just ridic like that. |

THanks, really appreciate that! I've got a "Ground Star" (I havnt met anyone else with it), it is very heavy and the lapels are very stiff. I actually feel like its easier to choke with them though (almost feels like the gi is trying to choke me ). I really like my Isami, that is the Paraestra standard (with the patches). It is light and the lapel is soft.
Sounds like I should go with the Vulkan and just stop looking.
Wish I could get better prices from them though..._________________ Sig bet record 1-1 (1NC) |

Yeah, Vulkans are kind of pricey. Why not call them up and ask about being a rep for wherever you live? |

Did that, and have a wholesale deal going on. Have contacted a few other brands, but Vulkan got back very quick. Padilla dont do wholesale overseas and the rest didnt answer._________________ Sig bet record 1-1 (1NC) |

Ah. Well, I don't ever really buy Gi, I tend to just ... get them free from people, so I don't ever worry about that kind of thing. |

| Keiko Raca is what I've liked the most so far.
I have a Koral gi, but the pants ripped - then everyone laughed at me - which they should have. |

Always fun when someone's pants rip!!
I was just looking at the Keiko Raca the other day. We deceided to order 15 Vulkans for the club. Hopefully they work out. If not I have to try something else._________________ Sig bet record 1-1 (1NC) |

Really? Why'd you like the Keiko? I found it to just be a rougher and slightly heavier version of Vulkans. |

| I need to get a gi since I started BJJ, just been wearing a rashguard and shorts the first few classes... but holy fuck are they expensive! Only working part time since I'm still in University, and all the decent quality gis I can find are like 150 bucks and up |

The Padilla gis are affordable and seem to be durable too. Might be worth a try. I have been in touch with them and can confirm that the service seems good there. They couldnt help me though...._________________ Sig bet record 1-1 (1NC) |

| I'd have to say VULKAN light, or KORAL MKM Comp are my favorite But if I would choose any gi, I would go for an ISAMI Japanese Classic (looks good, cheap, bought within Japan) Doesn't help with your question though, if your looking for Dougi for a club to make money off, Go with something quality, but no big names and labels, gives you free space to put your club patches aswell. These plain ISAMI Dougi are really cheap http://www.isami.co.jp/hayashi/iteminfo/iteminfo_e.asp
This is my favorite Gi hands down, http://www.inspirit.jp/cgi/jp/wear/armadura/img/1185331896.jpg I'm gunnu work on getting them back in production! |
