Replacing will be none other than Sergei Kharitonov. Best known for his run in PRIDE, Kharitonov is an extremely odd choice for this fight, as this will be not only his K-1 debut, but also his first fight in a professional kickboxing organization.
Kharitonov has been mostly on the sidelines for the past few years, competing only 3 times since the end of PRIDE and going 2-1, all in MMA competition. Of note, one of those fights is a win over fellow MMA star turned kickboxer Alistair Overeem, who he defeated at a Hero's event in 2007. The news of Kharitonov making a move to kicboxing is completely unexpected, and needless to say, he's diving in against a very tough opponent. |
So that's what Sergei has been up to...
I don't know about you all but I loved watching Sergei in Pride. It's a shame he isn't as active anymore, but hopefully this means he may start fighting more. If his boxing skills are near what they were I could see him upsetting Ghita. |

| Still think Ghita is to seasoned and his kicks are too much.
Ghita by TKO in the 2nd or 3rd. |

| i think sergei is in much better shape now than he has been lately, so hopefully he can get back in the swing of things. |

| Wow! That's awesome. I'm alot more excited for this fight than I was for Ghita/Die Faust. Tough first opponent for Kharitonov for sure. |

| I worry about Sergei's speed in this match up, regardless I'll be pulling for the rock fisted Russian. |
