PostSubject: 20 great MT fights from the last 20 years   Tue Nov 24, 2009 2:28 am

I made this a while back at a forum I used to post at, thought I'd go ahead and post it here too.

#20: From 2005, Nathan "Carnage" Corbett takes on K-1 veteran Magnum Sakai for the WBC Cruiserweight Championship. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5pvkz_nathan-corbett-vs-magnum-sakai_sport"

#19.5: This fight takes place sometime in the mid 90's. Two legends in this one, Therdkiat Settepitak takes on Jongsanan Fairtex. Not necessarily a great fight, but the way Therdkiat sets up the finish is amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uM6BO0jgZKo

#19: Another fight from the mid 90's. Stadium champion Jaroenthong Kiatbanchong takes on a fairly unknown European fighter, Andrea. Probably my favorite knockout of all time. Perfection! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTpDSs2R-ac

#18: Dutch legend Peter Smit travels to Thailand to take on the much smaller Changphuak Kiatsongrit. Fight is from the early 90's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAYkFscC77o

#17: 2 youngsters here. Both fighters are somewhere from 16-18 years old. You'll recognize one of them. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3ohqb_yodsanklai-vs-nopparat-lumpini_extreme

#16: This fight is only a few weeks old. 2 unknowns, but one hell of a fight. http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/NFKelqV0f4c/

#15: Another fight between 2 teenagers. Samkor Kiatmonthep vs. Pichitnoi Sitbangrajan. This was WAY before Samkor became a legend, and his style of fighting was completely different back then. It really doesn't even look like Samkor, but it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKhxShe0RXU

#14: A lot at stake in this fight. Not only is it a championship fight at Lumpinee stadium, but the winner of this fight becomes the 2008 Fighter of the Year in Thailand. Saecnhai Sor Kingstar vs. Petchboonchu F.A Group. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHuOZlj_PJ4

#13: The man who is largely responsible for the success of Buakaw, Namsaknoi Yuttakarnkamtorn takes on fellow super star Attachai Por Samranchai. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-XfzLURC4A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGotjivPYkQ&feature=related

#12: One of the most popular fighters from 90's was Pongsiri "Rambo" Por Rumrudee. I believe this fight was at the annual king's birthday show which in Thailand. Somewhere around 250,000 fans were on hand. http://www.megavideo.com/?v=DTRKKUQ9

#11: This fight is equivalent to Muay Thai as Pacquiao vs. De La Hoya was to boxing, or GSP vs. Penn in MMA. Samkor Kiatmonthep the much younger fighter goes up in weight to fight the much older Sangtiennoi Sor Rungrot who's better days are behind him. None the less Sangtiennoi is game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP_CGh0XZWc

#10: Another huge fight from the 90's. Orono Por Muangubon was the 1994 Fighter of the Year in Thailand. Den Muangsurin was a multiple time champion at both Lumpinee and Ratchadamnern Stadiums. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1srmx_orono-por-muang-ubon-vs-den-muangsu_sport

#9: "The new Rambo" Bovy Sor Udomsorn has built up quite the reputation in Thailand. Win or lose, the guy brings it every time. This imo is his best fight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2LCTdOMFbU&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQricqIemC4&feature=related

#8: Didn't think Bovy was exciting? Well get used to this next name. Narunat Chengzimaewgym. The next 3 fights all involve him, and they all took place in 2008. Might be the most exciting fighter in the world right now, not just in Muay Thai, but in any combat sport. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xa4h1p_kinsaeng-manoprovit-vs-narunath_sport

#7: Another fight from Narunat. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6b576_naruenart-chengsimewgym-vs-maneedan

#6: Yep its Narunat again. http://www.zoopy.com/video/9hz/august-8-2008-channel-7-fight-4-ko

#5: Finally a Ramon Dekkers fight. In this fight he takes on Sakmongkol Sitnchuchoke. Sakmongkol was just 17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP8HtTJu4dU

#4.5: Ramon Dekkers vs. Coban Lookchaomaesaitong #1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT8I4gux5c8 I really can't decide what is better, the KO, or the celebration dance.Very Happy Time had passed and Dekkers was making a name for himself in the sport, and this is one of the fights that made him uber popular. #2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOFJMlqJSi8 Now that they each had 1 win and 1 KO against each other this is #4.5 and the 3rd fight between the two. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2tim1_ramon-dekkers-coban-par-youchoc_sport

#4: Another War from Attachai Por Samranchai. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x12cko_attachai-por-samranchai-vs-kunpinit_sport

#3: Neither of these two fighters are particularly special fighters, but this fight is special. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo2oSZmsIBg

#2: In 2002 Singdam Kiatmoo9 was the best fighter in Thailand, he was a unanimous choice for Fighter of the Year. Just weeks after being awarded FOTY he happened to run into a fighter named Anuwat, and here's what happened. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuIrHFGbKZQ After that KO, Anuwat was now the man. When it was time for a new FOTY it was awarded to Anuwat. During all of this Singdam was also winning his fights, and he wanted a rematch. 2004 rolled around and the still had not happened. Singdam claimed that Anuwat knew he was lucky the first time around, and that he was afraid of Singdam. Time continued to pass, and they both kept winning. Finally the fight had been set up, and there was a lot on the line. Singdam 02 FOTY, Anuwat 03 FOTY, and the rematch was to determine the 04 FOTY. Here is what happened http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDoxGinCnZY

#1: "The War" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3vrziWRjwY

I know.

Can you believe I got into a debate with a guy on a different forum who thought it was boring, and a "pussy style" of fighting?

God I hate ignorant MMA fans.

Wow that guy is stupid then, MT is way more brutal than MMA...how could that be a "pussy" style of fighting?

Unfortunately you will find this with some MMA fans and it's not only with MMA fans. Plenty of k-1 fans say similar things about mma fights and boxing fans do it and so on.

I've found the best thing to do is to be a fan of all the combat sports and familiarize yourself in depth with each one. From my experience people who enjoy every combat sport or just more than one happen to be less likely to say something like that and are frankly more respectful and approachable fans. Not saying there aren't mma fans who only enjoy mma that are good dudes and boxing fans that are good dudes and so on bc there are many out there. It's just something I've noticed is all.

Because its not "real" fighting according to him. If it doesn't involve all aspects of fighting he thinks its pussy style.

Speaking of Bovy, Bovy was KO'ed by Mosab Amrani at SLAMM 6 a few days ago in one of the best KO's of the year.

i saw the slamm event i just didn't wanna post details incase it was seen as a spoiler Wink
the thing is though it didn't look like a hard punch but Mosab caught him flush on the front of the chin AKA DA SWEET SPOT! it was such a wobble and then timberrrrrrrrrr!

Bovy as exciting as he is to watch is done i'm afraid Sad took far to much punishment throughout his career and he s probably the easiest thai to beat now-a-days because the punch resistance aint there and he just won't take a backwards or sideways step! that other kid "the new bovy" can fill his gloves though so it aint all bad!

God if your an mma fan how can you hate on any other martial art and combat sport? WHAT YOU ARE WATCHING IS A MIXTURE OF THEM ALL!

i'm not really a fan per se of all these sports i just love watching exciting fighters, and to me that can mean different things: for instance i love striking i'm not a huge fan of grappling, guys like rumina sato, aoki, and the man in my sig mazakazu imanari are exciting to watch doing there thang.

Remy bonjasky bores the crap out of me but Giorgio petrosyan in max lights me candle with a similar style because he's dealing with faster and imo better skilled opponents.

At the same time though i love fighters like bovy, manny paquio, mark hunt, wanderlei, jose aldo etc. because of their exciting fights. i get just as exciting watching the elusive lyoto, slick floyd mayweather etc.

you're right dude! just love it all!

Love it all, hell yea Laughing

Yes, it's a shame about Bovy because he looked so good at Janus Fight Night. But alas Mosab is a pretty heavy handed guy so what can you do. Mosab is a great fighter on the rise in Muay Thai.
